Drugfree.org: A helpline for Families and anyone playing a supportive role in the life of someone struggling with substance use and addiction. Text "CONNECT" to 55753 to contact a specialist. 


National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): for people with mental illness. The NAMI HelpLine can be reached Monday through Friday, 10 am – 10 pm ET. Call 1-800-950-NAMI (6264), text "HelpLine" to 62640, or email helpline@nami.org.

SAMHSA’s Disaster Distress Helpline: provides 24/7, 365-day-a-year crisis counseling and support to people experiencing emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters. This toll-free, multilingual, and confidential crisis support service is available to all residents in the United States and its territories. Call or text 1-800-985-5990 to connect with a trained crisis counselor.


SAMHSA’s National Helpline: a confidential, free, 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a-year information service, in English and Spanish, for individuals and family members facing mental and substance use disorders. Al-Anon/Alateen: Al-Anon is a mutual support group of peers who share their experience in applying the Al-Anon principles to problems related to the effects of a problem drinker in their lives. Alateen is a peer support group for teens struggling with the impact of someone else’s drinking problem.


Alcoholics Anonymous (AA): for people with a history of alcohol abuse.


Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA): for people with anxiety and depression.


Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA): support group services to members of the organization.


The Compassionate Friends: support for families that have lost a child.


Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance: for people with depression and bipolar disorder.


Detox Local: American Asian and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Substance Abuse & Mental Health Resources. 


Gamblers Anonymous: for people with gambling problems (and their family and friends).


Gift From Within: a non-profit organization dedicated to those who suffer post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), those at risk for PTSD, and those who care for traumatized individuals; develops and disseminates educational material, including videotapes, articles, books, and other resources through its website; and, maintains a roster of survivors who are willing to participate in an international network of peer support.


International Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Foundation: support groups for people with OCD and their loved ones.


Live Another Day: provides substance use and prevention resources in the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) community. Their guides address critical issues for People of Color *and* their allies. This website also contains a comprehensive list of resources available.  


Mental Health America: peer support programs for people with various mental health conditions.


Narcotics Anonymous (NA): for people with a history of drug addiction.


National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI): Support groups and more resources for people with mental illness. 


National Eating Disorders Association: for people with eating disorders.


Postpartum Support International: for families coping with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, such as postpartum depression.


S-Anon International Family Groups: offers in-person, online, and phone meetings for family and friends of people with sexual addiction. 


Sex Addicts Anonymous (SAA): In-person, online, and phone meetings for people with a history of sexual addiction.
